Norwich Historical Dance at Otley Hall

About Norwich Historical Dance

We are a collection of enthusiasts brought together by a love of the music, costume and dance of past centuries. Our aims are to promote and preserve the knowledge of Early Dance, its place in our cultural heritage and to enable the enjoyment of such dance when possible.

Lover’s Luck
Lover’s Luck is the fifth dance in “The Paston Treasure” in Edinburgh for the 2019 EDC Festival and luck is a fickle thing in life’s fortunes

Using published research based on original source material the group built up a performing repertoire of mediaeval, Tudor, 17th and 18th century and Regency dances. We danced in costumes that were as authentic as possible, and we love to dance to live music played on instruments appropriate to the period of the dance.

NHD members have also published research on Early Dance subjects such as the Dancing Masters from times past in Norfolk.

We have performed at a wide variety of events and venues including National Trust properties, private parties, cultural celebrations and living history re-enactments.

Audience participation is very much a part of Norwich Historical Dance's modus operandi and all ages enjoy taking part. Here the dance is 'Miss Pultney's Fancy'
